RICOH GR · SHUTDOWN IMAGE
Prepare a shutdown screen for Ricoh GR
Confirm your camera model and compatibility first. Then edit the image locally in your browser, create the installation package, and verify the read-back. Images and firmware are never uploaded. Logs and a verification summary are sent only if you choose to share after a formal installation passes read-back. Verification scope is stated for each variant.
Confirm the model and compatibility first
Status applies to a specific variant and firmware version. A user report means that user reported success; project camera acceptance, experimental compatibility, and restore functions are tracked separately.
| Camera and firmware baseline | Current status and source requirements |
|---|---|
| GR III Standard · 2.10 | A user has reported a successful installation.Confirm the actual camera target, version, and original image each time. Restore remains experimental. |
| GR III Street / Diary / HDF · 2.10 | Experimental compatibility; project camera acceptance is incomplete.A shared BIN does not mean the camera variants or their actual resource targets are the same. |
| GR IIIx Urban Edition · 1.60 | The installation flow has passed project camera acceptance.Confirm the camera and firmware version on site. Restore remains experimental. |
| GR IIIx HDF · 1.60 | A user has reported successfully writing a shutdown image.Version 1.60 is the tool’s compatibility baseline; the report did not include the camera’s actual version. Confirm the version and original image before use. Restore remains experimental. |
| GR IIIx Standard · 1.60 | Experimental compatibility; project camera acceptance is incomplete.Sharing a BIN with Urban does not by itself confirm the Standard model’s target resource. |
| GR IV Standard / HDF · 1.11 | Experimental compatibility; project camera acceptance is incomplete.First create a read-only backup from the actual camera and import its original image. |
| GR IV Monochrome | Experimental compatibility; firmware version unknown.Use the original-image backup from this camera. Do not substitute firmware from a color GR IV or HDF model. |
Select the actual model and variant in the tool before starting. For GR III / GR IIIx, the matching official firmware BIN is a local, read-only source. For GR IV, first create a read-only backup from the camera. The status shown by the tool does not replace on-site confirmation of the model, version, and original image.
Prepare, install, and verify
Complete each step in order. Downloading, copying to the SD card, running on the camera, and verifying the read-back are separate states. Success at one step does not confirm the next.
-
01 Choose the camera
Select the actual model, variant, and camera firmware version. Verification scope is listed for each variant; a shared firmware file does not establish the camera model.
-
02 Read the current image
- GR III / GR IIIx: Import the matching official BIN and confirm the actual shutdown target. GR IV: read from a backup of the same camera. Monochrome does not use a color model’s BIN.
- Create and download the read-only backup package using the page’s step number. Copy its files to the SD card root and keep the
script/level intact; do not add another folder around it. - Follow the package instructions on the camera. Turn Script off, then reconnect the card to your computer. Select the SD card root; the tool matches and verifies the files for this session. You do not need to remember each filename. [Illustration]
-
03 Edit the image
Upload an image, adjust the composition, and create an encoded preview. The candidate uses the verified capacity of the current slot. Review the actual JPEG preview before continuing.
-
04 Prepare the new image · first card insertion
Create and download the slot preparation package, copy its files to the SD card root, then follow the package instructions on the camera. The package stages the new image only, so the shutdown screen is expected to stay unchanged. Reconnect the card to your computer, select the SD card root in step 04, and verify it before formal installation.
-
05 Formal installation · second card insertion
After preparation passes verification, download the compact package from the formal installation area below step 04. You can also open it from step 05 at the top. Extract it, copy its files to the original SD card root again, and run it on the camera. Only this run replaces the shutdown screen. Keep old logs, archives, and personal photos; overwrite only matching control files in the new package. Merge the
script/contents into the folder with the same name on the card. -
06 Confirm the result
Reconnect the card to your computer and select its root. The tool matches the formal installation session and verifies all files. Missing files are listed by name; if there are multiple past sessions, choose this task. Manual file selection, JSON import, and P/Q binding are in Advanced options. Finally, confirm that the shutdown screen looks right, Script is off, and save the field confirmation. [Illustration]
How to run each camera operation
With the camera off, hold MENU and press Power to enter Factory Menu. Set FW Setting1 → Script to Enable, keep Camera Mode at Normal, then turn the camera off. Start it normally without pressing MENU to run the script. Wait for the shooting screen to settle and for the write or activity light to turn off, then power off normally; do not cut power after a fixed number of seconds. When finished, enter Factory Menu and set Script to Disable. [Illustration]
Keep original files and verify each stage separately
The page reads only the root files for this task in the directory you select. It does not read DCIM photos or write to the card. The ZIP includes the matching session JSON; keep this package, its archive, and the read-back evidence. Older flows that do not need step 04 slot preparation will be marked to skip. Verify older sessions and restore using their own steps.
Local processing and feature boundaries
Processed locally by default
Images and firmware are verified, edited, and encoded locally in your browser; they are never uploaded. GRLife receives this operation’s L/S log and verification summary only if you choose to share and save the field record after formal installation passes read-back. Shutdown images are never uploaded or published. Public information includes only the model, firmware, and count of verified success reports. Obtain GR III / GR IIIx firmware from Ricoh’s official source. GRLife does not connect to the camera or write to the SD card.
Restore is still experimental
Factory-image restore has not passed camera acceptance on every model. Proceed only after confirming the source, session, and camera target. A successful installation report does not verify restore.
